Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet

Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet

Great drawing tablet

The Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet was on my wish list for Christmas 2011. I wanted a drawing tablet with a large screen and pen. A tablet that I could draw, sketch and create my own style of unique drawings on that I could upload to Zazzle.

I had planned to create more line art drawings and travel drawings. There is software that can convert photos into line art, but they do not always give the look that I want. Often the lines are broken up, jagged and sometimes there is too much detail where it is not needed and makes the drawing look confusing and cluttered.

Getting more into my own creativity and experimenting more with Photoshop, using a mouse to draw is harder to sketch then with a drawing pen, especially when you are going for fine detail. A drawing tablet and an electronic pen are so easy to use and can give a special touch to your artwork.

This is an easy tablet to use for beginners and professional users alike. Sensitive touchscreen that is 7.5" x 5.1 " and when activated with the pen, the area for drawing is 8.5" x 5.4". You can configured the tablet for right-hand or left-hand. This is a plus for left-handed people, when most electronics only consider right-handed individuals. Four ExpressKeys come in handy to provide quick access to the user's shortcuts. Fun wireless, battery free easy to grip drawing pen allows smooth and easy control with your work. You will feel like you are sketching on paper. Use your hand to navigate. You can rotate your screen, scroll and zoom all with the touch of your hand. Included with the Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet is Corel Painter 4 Essentials and Photoshop Essentials software, Bamboo pen and setup software.

My Christmas present - One check off the wishlist

Christmas 2011, I was thrilled to see the Bamboo tablet as I unwrapped the present. Now was my chance to create some drawings without using a clumsy mouse.

After using Photoshop software for the last few years, the software Corel Painter 4 Essentials that came with it, did not really excite me and it did not seem to have all that much to offer. At least for me, since I have become spoiled with Photoshop's power.

I did load the Photoshop Essentials just to see if there was something that it had not available on Photoshop. (Photoshop Essentials is a light version of Photoshop that give the basics of this powerful software. Many people whom I know use Photoshop Essentials and love it. It is inexpensive compared to the other software.)

There was a problem with the Photoshop Essentials that I had. Though I had the software with the registration information on the CD, it would not allow me to use it. I kept getting the 'not authorize to use this software' message. I told my family about this and found out that my tablet was a used tablet. My daughter bought it from a woman who bought it the Christmas before for her son. He hardly used it and did put the software on his computer. This would have not been a problem if the software was never used. Adobe and many other software companies will not let you add the software to more than one computer, unless it states 2 or 3 computers. Even though it came with the deal, the software program knew that it had been used before.

This is also a big problem if your computer crashes and you try to reload the software. Believe me, I know! This is just a warning to everyone who buys used software. With older software you will not have a problem with it, but it may not be compatible with your computer.

Since that Christmas I have not used my tablet enough. But when I do, I find it is a lot of fun and it works great with my Photoshop. I would recommend this drawing tablet for anyone who loves to draw and sketch.

After Photoshop CS6, you can no longer buy an upgraded version of this software. Now it is all online under the Creative Cloud where you pay a membership fee to rent the software. Personally, I would prefer to own the software.
